Rokuhodo Yotsuiro Biyori Anime Gets Live-Action adaptation

Nozomu Kotaki (Johnny’s West) will star in a live-action television drama based on the manga Rokuhodo Yotsuiro Biyori, which will air on TV Asahi on January 15th.

Rokuhodo Yotsuiro Biyori will be having a live-action television drama adaptation starting on TV Asahi on January 15th, with Johnny’s West star Nozomu Kotaki as lead actor.

Yu Shimizu’s manga already has a worldwide reputation for anime adaptation. While the fans of the anime were waiting for the English version of the manga for years, TV Asahi made a surprise announcement.

For the leading roles of the live-action TV drama, it is announced that Shono Hayama as Tokitaka Nagae, Ryusei Onishi as Tsubaki Nakao, Daichi Saeki as Gure, and Nozomu Kotaki as Sui will be in the cast.

The anime’s opening song was Sakurairo Cliché, sung by Aki, who previously performed theme songs for Spiral, The File of Young Kindaichi, Lights of the Clione, Crane Game Girls Galaxy, and Nazotokine. The drama soundtrack is still unknown.

What is Rokuhodo Yotsuiro Biyori about?

The story of both manga and anime is about a place called Rokuhodo. It’s a Japanese-style tea house with four charming staff; coffee expert Gure, dessert expert Tsubaki, cooking expert Tokitaka and the owner of the tea house, and tea expert Sui.

Sui inherits the place from his grandfather, and with his friends’ help, he quits his office job and starts running the tea house. While customers get cozy in the relaxing environment and taste the delicious food of the tea house, they can get advice for their problems from the staff, too.

For anime lovers, it is an anime just like Laid-back Camp; a relaxing and charming atmosphere with a lot of delicious food.

The Characters of Rokuhodo Yotsuiro Biyori

There are four main characters and a few side characters we see in both in the Rokuhodo Yotsuiro Biyori manga and anime.

Kyousui Tougoku (also known as Sui)

Sui is the owner of the tea house who learns the art of tea making from his grandfather, and tries to live up to his name. His cooking is so awful, that the staff are always checking whether he is entering the kitchen intending to cook or not. He is a total cat-lover who owns a cat named Kinako which is also like a mascot to the tea house.

Tsubaki Nakao

He is a loner who always thinks about sweets. On his days off, he visits cake shops to improve his baking skills and create perfect sweets and desserts.

Tokitaka Nagae

He is an old friend of Sui and the person who encouraged him about the tea house. He is a good cook and a pottery master who gives lessons to elders.

Gregorio Valentino (also known as Gure)

He is a friendly Italian and the barista of the tea house. He is trying his best with latte arts. They are famous for their awful looks. But customers always come again for the great taste. No one can convince him that the latte art he makes is looking terrible. He is a member of the local duck boating club.

His friendly quarrels with Tsubaki are one of the joys of the anime.

Where can I watch the anime?

Unfortunately they only made one 12 episode season of the Rokuhodo Yotsuiro Biyori anime. The good news is you can watch them online, though.
