We brought the girls from the hit video game Doki Doki Literature Club to life and made them look real with the magic of AI.
Doki Doki Literature Club is a popular indie game developed by Team Salvato that was released in 2017. The game presents itself as a typical dating simulator, but quickly takes a dark turn as the story unfolds. The game follows the protagonist as he joins the school’s literature club, and interacts with four different girls who each have their own unique personalities and quirks. As the game progresses, the player discovers that there is much more to these characters than meets the eye.
To imagine what the characters of Doki Doki Literature Club would look like in real life, we used Midjourney, a text-to-image deep learning AI model. By feeding the model descriptions of the characters, we were able to generate realistic photos of each girl.
Sayori
First up is Sayori, the protagonist’s childhood friend and the club’s vice president. Sayori is a bubbly and energetic girl who is always trying to make others happy, even if she is struggling with her own inner demons. She has long, curly brown hair and big, bright blue eyes that sparkle with enthusiasm.
Natsuki
Next is Natsuki, a petite and spunky girl who has a tough exterior but is actually quite sensitive. She has short, pink hair and fierce green eyes that reflect her fiery personality. Natsuki is passionate about manga and baking, and often gets into arguments with the other members of the club.
Yuri
Yuri is the quiet and reserved member of the literature club. She has long, dark purple hair and piercing blue eyes that seem to look right through you. Yuri is intelligent and well-read, and often gets lost in her own thoughts. She has a tendency to be self-conscious and is prone to self-harm.
Monika
Finally, there is Monika, the president of the literature club. Monika is charming and confident, with long, flowing brown hair and warm, brown eyes that seem to radiate intelligence. She is the most mysterious of the four girls, and has a deep fascination with the player, often breaking the fourth wall to speak directly to them.

By using the Midjourney AI model, we were able to create realistic photos of what the characters from Doki Doki Literature Club might look like in real life. Each of the girls has their own unique personality and backstory that makes them a compelling and interesting character to get to know.
